Hey!
Being the raidleader of my current group, which at the moment pretty much have turn 1-4 on farm, I would gladly contribute with my Coil experience. If there's anything you would like to know, don't be afraid to ask me. I will gladly help anyone!
"What kind of questions should I ask?" you're might thinking. Everything! About strategy, gearchecks, positioning. Yes. Everything. No questions are stupid.
(1) What should you do before raiding new content (first time in coil or a new turn you haven't played before)?
- Get food buffs. Good food equals an extra ilvl90 item.
- Make sure you're available for communication. Teamspeak 3, ventrilo, mumble.
- See a video guide beforehand. Being clueless doesn't really help the raid, it will only make it harder for the rest of the raid. Even though there's a raidleader who calls decision, you have to be able to think quickly and make your own on the spot most likely.
- Repair your gear. Would be sad if your gear was broken mid fight.
(2) Now I'm in coil. What do I do to do my job as best as possible?
- Since you've (of course) allready looked up on how the fight works, and discussed the strategy with the others, you should follow those instructions which are given. But be ready to make your own decisions in tight situations where something has gone wrong. This can overlap with my next point.
- Communication is key. Make sure your raid know what you are doing at any given time. If you're a tank, make sure people know you're using a cooldown. And even more important: make sure people know when you're out of cooldowns. If you're a healer out of mp and you wipe, don't blame the bard- blame yourself for not informing the bard about your mp in teamspeak. And like I talked about in my first point, you might have to make your own decisions which might not be according to the strategy. If you have time: ask the others. If not-- inform them so they can adjust accordingly. I'd say communication is by far the most important thing in any raid. So. SPEAK UP.
My group's turn win videos
For some reason I had my microphone muted on the stream so you can't really hear me. That's because I suck at streaming.
Turn 1
Our WHM almost died during the split. What saved her? Shroud of saints. ALWAYS use it during the split. Why? It reduces emnity (agro). We split our raid in two groups: 1 tank, 1 mdps, 1rdps and 1 healer in each group. Communication is key in this fight as in all other fights. Tanks need to inform about their cooldowns. Also notice how our MT uses hallowed ground right after the split. It was a fast, correct dicision. Why? He saw that our WHM (who was on him, I was on OT) had problems during the split. He knew she would have problems healing him and that she got to heal herself up. Hallowed ground fixed that problem.
Turn 2
The first three mininodes is kind of a joke and straight forward. Just remember to silence High Voltage. Notice the numbers above our heads. That has to do with the ROT-rotation. We position ourself accordingly. Picture here. Notice how we always communicate about the rot rotation. We missed a silence and we should have wiped. The only thing that got us through was staying calm, focusing on the rot rotation, good heals and high dps. Another example of how important communication and composure are.
NB: Don't ever use the 1 tank, 3 heals strategy. It's a total abuse of the mechanics in the fight, and I see as an exploit that should be banable. Enrage mechanics are there for a reason: to wipe us and give us a strict gear check - not damage incoming thats healable for a long period of time. I can't understand why it hasn't been fixed yet. It also makes the fight dumbed down. If you have to use this exploit to beat turn 2, you will have a hard time in turn 4. Trust me.
Turn 4
Everything went pretty smooth here except from lack of heals on our OT, which I had responsibility of, but some lustrate spam and a clutch benediction from our WHM held him up. Even though I had responsibility for our OT, you can see that I healed the MT just as much. Maybe a lack of communication, but all worked out well.
